Captain Sib Randolph and his crew at Mr. Twister Charters know Lake Erie like the back of their hands, and they're ready to put you on some serious fish. These half-day trips pack a punch – whether you're an early bird who loves the morning bite or prefer to sleep in and fish the afternoon, there's a 4-hour window that'll work perfectly for your schedule. Lake Erie's reputation for world-class walleye fishing isn't just hype, and when you add hungry perch and scrappy smallmouth bass to the mix, you've got yourself a recipe for bent rods and full coolers. Captain Sib's been working these waters long enough to know exactly where the fish are hanging out, and his track record speaks for itself – just ask the folks who've been coming back year after year.
Your 4-hour adventure starts with a maximum of 4 anglers, which means you're getting the personal attention that makes all the difference between a good day and a great day. Captain Sib and his first mate aren't just boat drivers – they're your fishing coaches, net handlers, and fish cleaners all rolled into one. The boat's equipped with everything you need to target Lake Erie's top species, from downriggers for trolling to lighter tackle for when the perch are schooled up thick. Don't worry about bringing lunch – these trips are designed to get you back to shore with plenty of time to grab a bite and show off your catch. The crew's flexible approach means they'll adjust tactics based on what the fish are doing that day, whether that's working deeper water for walleye or hitting the shallows where the smallmouth like to ambush bait.
Lake Erie fishing is all about reading the water and adapting to conditions, and that's where Captain Sib's experience really shines. When walleye are the target, expect to troll with planer boards and diving plugs, covering water until you find those schools of hungry fish. The crew knows exactly which colors and depths work best based on water clarity, time of year, and weather conditions. For perch fishing, it's a different game entirely – anchoring over structure and dropping rigs loaded with emerald shiners or nightcrawlers. These fish travel in big schools, so when you find them, it's game on. Smallmouth bass fishing often means working rocky areas with jigs or live bait, and these bronze fighters will test your drag system. The boat's electronics help locate fish-holding structure, but it's the crew's knowledge of seasonal patterns and daily movements that really puts the odds in your favor.
"Capt Sib was a very nice person with extensive knowledge on walleye fishing. When he realized the weather conditions for our plsnned trip he called us and had us cpme early to ensure a safe and pleasant experience. Thank you Captain Sib." - John. "They were very flexible with our start time—we got going at 9am. If we had started earlier, we probably would've caught even more fish. We'll definitely be back next year, and next time we're pushing off at 7am!" - Pakie. "My family had a great time with Captain Syb and first mate Shawn. They both went out of their way to help my kids reel in fish and made the experience really enjoyable. I highly recommend Mr. Twister Charters—thanks again for a fantastic trip!" - Karoly.
American Yellow Perch are Lake Erie's bread and butter, and for good reason – these golden beauties travel in massive schools and provide non-stop action when you find them. Perch typically run 8-12 inches, with the occasional jumbo pushing 13-14 inches that'll have you grinning from ear to ear. Spring and fall offer the best perch action, when they're feeding heavily and schooled up tight over rocky reefs and drop-offs. What makes perch fishing so addictive is the constant bite – once you're on a school, it's fish after fish until your arms get tired. Plus, there's nothing better on the dinner table than fresh perch fillets, and the crew will have them cleaned and ready to go before you hit the dock.
Walleye are the crown jewel of Lake Erie, and Captain Sib's reputation for putting clients on these golden fish is well-earned. These predators typically range from 15-25 inches, with trophy fish over 28 inches always a possibility. Walleye feed most actively during low-light periods – early morning, late afternoon, and overcast days – which makes them perfect targets for these 4-hour trips. They're structure-oriented fish that relate to drop-offs, reefs, and current breaks, and Lake Erie's vast expanses hold massive populations. What walleye anglers love most is the combination of great fishing and excellent eating – these fish have sweet, flaky white meat that's perfect for any recipe you can think of.
Smallmouth Bass bring a different kind of excitement to Lake Erie fishing – these bronze fighters are pound-for-pound some of the strongest freshwater fish you'll encounter. Lake Erie smallmouth typically run 12-18 inches, but the lake's fertile waters produce plenty of 3-4 pound fish that'll test your tackle and skills. They're most active during warmer months, hanging around rocky areas, drop-offs, and anywhere they can ambush baitfish. What sets smallmouth apart is their aerial displays – these fish jump, run, and fight dirty until they're in the net. The rocky structure of Lake Erie provides perfect smallmouth habitat, and the lake's excellent water quality means these fish are healthy, aggressive, and ready to rumble.

Captain Sib and Dan were awesome. While the fishing was a bit slow, it definitely wasn’t for lack of effort—they went above and beyond to put us on fish. A recent storm and rough water made conditions tough, but we still had a great time on the water. It was a first-class experience, and I’m already looking forward to booking with them again next year—hopefully with better weather during my window. One tip: plan to arrive early or come the day before to get familiar with the marina. The signage and directions there aren’t very clear.

Yellow perch are Lake Erie favorites that run 7-10 inches and travel in big schools - sometimes 200 fish strong. You'll find them around docks, weed beds, and structure in 8-20 feet of water. Spring through fall fishing is solid, but they really turn on when water temps hit that sweet spot in late spring. What makes them special? They're scrappy fighters on light tackle and absolutely delicious - some of the best eating fish in the lake. My tip: when you catch one, work that same area hard because where there's one perch, there's usually a whole bunch more waiting.

Smallmouth bass are pure fighters that'll test your drag system. These bronze-backed beauties average 12-16 inches and love Lake Erie's rocky shorelines, drop-offs, and boulder piles in 10-30 feet of water. Spring and fall are peak times when they're active in cooler water temps. What sets them apart is their fight - pound for pound, nothing hits harder or jumps higher. They're also great eating with firm, white meat. Here's a local trick: target the rocky points early morning with tube jigs or drop shots. When you feel that tick on the line, set the hook fast - they'll spit it quick.

Walleye are the gold standard on Lake Erie, running 15-25 inches with those distinctive glassy eyes. They hang around rocky bottoms, drop-offs, and structure in 15-40 feet during the day, moving shallow at dusk to feed. Prime time is evening into dark when they use those big eyes to hunt. What guests love most is the steady fight and the fact that walleye are hands-down the best table fare you'll find. They're our bread and butter fish here. Pro tip: slow down your presentation and keep it near bottom - walleye rarely chase, so bring the bait right to them.
