Ready for a full day of world-class fishing on Lake Erie? Mr Twister Charters has you covered with this top-rated 7-hour private trip. You'll be targeting some of the lake's most sought-after species: Yellow Perch, Smallmouth Bass, and the prized Walleye. Whether you're a seasoned angler or new to the game, this trip offers the perfect blend of action, scenery, and the chance to reel in some real beauties.
As soon as you step aboard, you'll feel the excitement in the air. The captain and crew know these waters like the back of their hand, and they're itching to put you on the fish. We'll motor out to some of Lake Erie's most productive spots, where the fish are practically jumping into the boat (okay, not quite, but you get the idea). All the gear you need is provided, so don't sweat it if you're traveling light. That said, if you've got a lucky rod or some favorite lures, feel free to bring 'em along. Just remember to pack some grub to keep your energy up - trust me, you'll need it when you're reeling in one fish after another.
On this trip, we'll be using a mix of techniques to maximize our catch. Trolling is a big part of the game here on Lake Erie, especially for those trophy Walleye. We'll set up a spread of lines, each with carefully selected lures or live bait, and cruise at just the right speed to entice the big ones. For Yellow Perch and Smallmouth Bass, we might switch it up with some drift fishing or casting. The crew will show you the ropes, from rigging your line to setting the hook when you feel that telltale tug. And hey, if you've got any tricks up your sleeve, we're always game to learn something new!
"We had an awesome charter trip on Lake Erie with Sib and his first mate, Bo. They showed us how to rig up for trolling and made us feel like part of the team. Despite tough conditions during the peak of the Mayfly hatch, we limited out by 11:30 with a cooler full of quality fish. These guys are true professionals." - Larry "We had a great day fishing" - Mike
American Yellow Perch: Don't let their size fool you - these feisty little fighters punch well above their weight class. Yellow Perch are a staple of Lake Erie fishing, and for good reason. They school up in huge numbers, which means when you find 'em, you're in for some fast action. Look for them around underwater structure or drop-offs. The best part? They're absolutely delicious, making them a favorite for fish fries.
Walleye: The crown jewel of Lake Erie fishing, Walleye are what bring anglers from all over to these waters. These predators have a reputation for being finicky, but when they're biting, hold onto your hat! Spring and fall are prime Walleye seasons, but we catch 'em year-round. They've got a soft mouth, so setting the hook just right is an art form. Land a big one, and you've got bragging rights for life.
Smallmouth Bass: Pound for pound, Smallmouth Bass might just be the hardest fighting fish in the lake. These bronze bombers are known for their acrobatic jumps and never-say-die attitude. We target them around rocky areas and drop-offs, where they love to ambush their prey. The lake's clear waters make for some exciting visual fishing - sometimes you can see them chase down your lure!
Lake Erie isn't called the "Walleye Capital of the World" for nothing. But it's not just about the fish - it's the whole package. You've got the wide-open feeling of being on one of the Great Lakes, with a skyline that seems to go on forever. The water clarity here is something else, giving you a window into the underwater world. And let's not forget the sunsets - if we time it right, you might catch a Lake Erie sunset that'll make you forget all about the fish you caught (almost).
What sets this charter apart is the crew's dedication to putting you on fish. These guys eat, sleep, and breathe Lake Erie fishing. They're out here day in and day out, tracking fish movements and dialing in the best techniques. But it's not just about catching fish - it's about the experience. The crew's got a knack for making everyone feel comfortable, whether you're a first-timer or a seasoned pro. They'll share stories, teach you new tricks, and make sure you're having a blast the whole time.
While all the essential fishing gear is provided, there are a few things you'll want to bring along to make the most of your day on the water. Sunscreen is a must - that Lake Erie sun can be sneaky. A hat and polarized sunglasses will help you spot fish and cut down on glare. Don't forget to pack some snacks and drinks to keep your energy up. And of course, bring a camera to capture your big catches (and maybe that killer sunset).
Lake Erie's known for its mood swings, weather-wise. We always keep a close eye on conditions to ensure a safe and productive trip. If it's looking choppy, we might adjust our fishing spots to more sheltered areas. And if the big lake's really kicking up a fuss, we've got backup plans to make sure you still get your fishing fix. Safety first, but we're also committed to making sure you get the most out of your day on the water.

We had a great day fishing

Smallmouth bass are a real treat to catch in Lake Erie. These feisty fish usually run 2-4 pounds, but can get up to 6 or 7. You'll find them around rocky areas and drop-offs, especially in 10-30 feet of water. Spring and fall are prime times, when they move shallow to feed. Smallies put up an amazing fight for their size - they'll jump and run, really testing your skills. We like to use tube jigs or drop shot rigs with soft plastics. A good trick is to fish parallel to the shoreline, working your lure along ledges where smallmouth like to ambush prey. The meat is mild and flaky if you want to keep a few for dinner. Just remember to release the big ones so they can keep breeding. Nothing beats the thrill of battling these bronze backs on light tackle!
Yellow perch might be small, but they're a big deal on Lake Erie. These tasty panfish usually run 8-12 inches and under a pound. You'll find big schools in 15-30 feet of water, often near weed beds or drop-offs. Fall is prime time, but you can catch them year-round. Perch are easy to catch and great for kids or beginners. They put up a good scrap for their size on light tackle. We use simple rigs - just a hook, sinker, and minnow or piece of worm. A local secret is to add a small spinner blade above your hook for extra flash. Perch travel in schools, so when you find one, you've often found a bunch. The best part? Perch are absolutely delicious. There's nothing like a fresh perch fry after a day on the water. Just watch out for the bones!
Walleye are the bread and butter of Lake Erie fishing. These golden-eyed predators usually run 2-5 pounds, but 10+ pounders aren't uncommon. You'll find them along underwater humps and points, often in 15-35 feet of water. Spring and fall are best, but summer nights can be hot too. Walleye are prized for their tasty white fillets, but they're also fun to catch. They fight with strong head shakes and runs. We usually troll with crankbaits or nightcrawler harnesses, or jig with minnows. A local trick is to use purple or blue lures - for some reason walleye here love those colors. When you feel that telltale tap-tap of a walleye bite, wait a few seconds before setting the hook. These fish often grab the bait sideways first. There's nothing like the satisfaction of filling a cooler with "Erie gold!"
